"Sylvia Loran" (Anita Ekberg) is engaged to be married in a couple of weeks and calls her husband at work to inform she has inherited a castle from her long lost uncle "The Count". She leaves Rome to look into the castle. She stops at a hotel bar and has a beer before making the rest of the trip. When she states that she is staying at the castle, and that she is one of the family, the crowd in the bar stops and looks up at her in shock. A man with a deep voice calls her name, takes her bags and informs her that the count is expecting her.
The castle looks like a 100 year old catholic church. Sylvia arrives at her new home by horse and carriage in the morning. At 10:00 pm her uncle awakes from his sleep. Over a late dinner, Sylvia inquires about her family. She finds out that her mother "Sonya" is buried in the castle crypt, along with other members of her family.
Later that evening a strange woman enters Sylvia’s room to inform her that her Uncle wants her to do things her mother would not do, then attempts to seducer her with kisses on her neck, Sylvia’s uncle walks in and drags the woman away. Sylvia is distraught and chases after them and finds her uncle whipping the woman. Afterward, the woman exposes herself to be a vampire.
Sylvia is informed by her Uncle that her grandmother was a witch and was burned at the stake for attempting to learn the secrets of immortality and that Sylvia must not get married as she is also effected by her grandmother curse and must continue the practices of her Grandmother. She is forced to write a letter to her would be husband to cancel the engagement and live out the family legacy. The music bounces around from sounding spooky and scary to sounding like it was taken from episodes of "The Courtship of Eddies Father". Clearly filmed on a low budget, the film relies more on spooky lighting and lots of push up bras to keep the viewer distracted from an otherwise weak story. The movie shows promise at the beginning but quickly looses steam and the viewer's interest. I guess the push up bras worked then cause I finished the movie.
