"She-Devils on Wheels"

If you are looking for a fun biker movie that truly believes it is much cooler than it really is, then this is the film you need to see. "She Devils on Wheels" was made in 1969 and is the female contribution to the "bikexploitation" fad of the late 1960's and the early 1970's.

This movie was from our friend Herschell Gordon Lewis. Hershell was accused of producing too many movies that showed women being tortured and killed.
So in response to this accusations, the masterfully poorly produced $10,000 epic "She Devils on Wheels" was made.

The movie is about a group of female bikers who spend most of their free time having races on the runway of a vacant airport. How the ladies finish in the races determines what order the girls get to pick their partners in an all-out orgy at the girls hangout. Keep in mind when this movie was produced. Many of the sex scenes involve keeping most of the clothes on. Kind of like a daytime soap. Only with poor dialogue.

There are a few things that are so wrong with the film that it adds to the charm of the movie. When one female biker starts to have feelings for one of the men in the orgies (a big no no) her loyalties are put to the test when she is forced to tie the man to the back of her bike and ride as fast as she can down the runway dragging his body on the ground. When she pulls away, the man is face up laying in his back. In the next shot going down the runway, he is face down. on the third angle returning a bloody mess, he is face up again. Just as funny is the whole time she is ridding the bike, it is painfully clear that she is pulling a dummy down the runway.

As for the fight scenes, I have seen better fights in a preschool classroom. The girls swing punches like they are afraid they will break a nail and kick like they are trying to stamp out a group of spiders. Yet the men they fight look like they were hit by a Mack Truck, then the truck backed up over them again. All adding to the charm of this old classic.
