Nightmare in Wax

"Nightmare in Wax" is the story of a former Hollywood special effects engineer named Vince (Cameron Mitchell) who was disfigured by the Hollywood film pioneer "Max". The two become at odds over the affections of a beautiful movie star played by Anne Hem. After becoming frustrated and embarrassed from the injuries inflected by the heartless "Max", Vince goes underground and opens a Hollywood Star Wax Museum. Vince ambushes people who previously double crossed him and those men who he suspects may be in love with is ex-girlfriend and turns them into zombies who follow only his commands. Vince then sets out to complete his revenge by killing Max and his ex-girlfriend.

Good use is made of flashbacks to help set the stage for events in the present day story. Not too many flashbacks, just a couple. The first is the incident where Max throws wine at Vince while Vince is lighting a cigarette causing him to erupt in flames. The other flashback is Vince turning his soon to be ex-girlfriend away out of shame and frustration
while he is in the hospital.

The cinematography in the movie is very good. The director makes good use of the props as well as the locations used to film the many out door on-location scenes. There are some fun surprises in the story that I will not give away here. The movie can be found on the "Gorehouse Greats Collection" distributed by Mills Creek Entertainment. The print used may not be the best, as Mills Creek is not know for using the best prints available in their library. However this movie is well worth making the five-dollar purchase for the 12 movie set.
